Ministry Update: Dale Brown Resigns

After two years of serving Texas Reach Out Ministry as Executive Director, Dale Brown has resigned from his position and will be leaving August 19th, 2022. Dale served as Interim Executive Director in September 2020 and four months later became Permanent Executive Director, helping TROM stabilize after the death of its founder, David Peña.

As ED, Dale secured new donors, broadened our visibility within Austin, TX and nationally, improved our application processes, and brought stability to our financial reporting processes. Dale has worked to increase the number of clients that we serve, and TROM is now operating at full capacity.

Because of these improvements, the mission of TROM will continue to provide alternative housing, a Christ-centered environment, discipleship, and spiritual guidance to men and women released from prison and returning to the community. Because of the high demand for TROM’s services, the goal of acquiring a total of 18 houses, as envisioned by our founder David Peña, becomes a high priority for the Board and Staff.

We are profoundly grateful for Dale’s 2 years of serving TROM and wish him the best in his future plans and endeavors.

Over the next few months, we will be conducting a search to find a new TROM Executive Director. As we move forward to fill this position, I will be the Acting Director along with the entire board, until a permanent Executive Director is hired.

For over 20+ years of history, TROM has played a major role in our community, helping hundreds of ex-offenders reenter society and become productive citizens. We plan to continue to minister and be a leader in offering real solutions to those who might otherwise return to prison or become homeless. We deeply appreciate those who have given of their time, skills, and financial resources to make this possible.

Blessings,

Nelson Mann
President of the Board
